Ghassaq Shaheen, Deputy Permanent Representative of the UAE the United Arab Emirates at the United Nations met with Georgette Gagnon, Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan and UNAMA’s role in supporting peace, stability, and development.
The UAE Mission to the United Nations has announced that the two sides emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of all Afghan citizens, especially women and girls, and empowering them to fully participate, equally, and effectively in society.
According to the press release, the meeting also emphasized expanding educational and employment opportunities and increasing women’s participation in public spheres.
