New revelations about cover-up of war crimes allegations against British special forces in Afghanistan

A former British special forces officer has said that allegations of war crimes and extrajudicial killings in Afghanistan were not reported to the military police due to concerns about demoralizing troops.

According to the BBC, the former military official added that preventing disruption of military operations and distrust of some evidence provided by rival forces were also reasons for keeping these cases secret.

He claimed that the British military police were unaware of these allegations for years and received incorrect or incomplete reports.

British special forces are accused of committing war crimes, including the killing of civilians and children in Afghanistan between 2010 and 2013, allegations that have been the subject of extensive investigations and scrutiny in recent years.
