The first private supersonic unmanned jet breaks the sound barrier
Hermes has announced that the company’s unmanned jet, the 2.1 Quarterhorse Mk, has broken the sound barrier during a test flight in New Mexico.
Hermes described the event as the world’s first supersonic flight of a privately developed unmanned aircraft.
This jet is built to approximately the same size as a fighter jet, and its design, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, uses a delta or triangular wing to increase stability at very high speeds.
Hermes has called the test a major milestone in the aviation industry and the development of supersonic flight technology.
