Chemical tank explosion threat in California, 40,000 people evacuated

About 40,000 people were forced to leave their homes in southern California after a tank containing dangerous chemicals exploded or leaked.

Reports indicate that the tank contained approximately 26,500 liters of methyl methacrylate, a substance used in the production of plastics and is highly flammable.

American officials have said that the tank is located at the JK Aerospace factory in the Garden Grove area near Los Angeles.

Fire officials have warned that there is a possibility of the tank exploding or leaking chemicals, which could cause the release of dangerous smoke and gases.

According to officials, firefighters were able to reduce the temperature of the tank from a safe distance, buying more time to control the situation.

Meanwhile, Garden Grove police have announced that in addition to the mass evacuation of residents, more than a dozen schools have been closed, and it is not yet clear when the state of emergency will end.
