US Citizenship and Immigration Services announces new restrictions on changing residency status
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that from now on, applications for change of residence status or Adjustment of Status will only be accepted under exceptional circumstances.
Under the new policy, people who have entered the United States on temporary visas and intend to obtain a green card must return to their home country and submit their application through the US embassy or missions of the US Department of State.
The department said the decision was made to implement the primary purpose of immigration laws and prevent illegal residence.
