United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that the people of Africa must benefit first and foremost from the continent’s natural resources.
Guterres wrote on his X-Page on Tuesday, May 12, that for too long, Africa’s resources have been exploited, but the benefits have flowed outside the continent, and the environmental consequences have remained within Africa itself.
The UN Secretary-General, emphasizing the end of the unjust exploitation of Africa’s resources, has said, “No more exploitation, no more plunder.”
He also called for the people of Africa to benefit fairly from their wealth and natural resources.
These statements come as concerns continue about the exploitation of Africa’s natural resources by foreign companies and powers.
