Iraqi security sources announced that the radar of the US embassy’s defense system in Baghdad’s Green Zone was targeted and destroyed by a suicide drone this morning, Saturday (14th of March ).
After this attack, Iraqi security forces immediately closed all entrances and exits to the Green Zone (where the US embassy and diplomatic missions are located), and the security situation increased sharply.
Baghdad’s Green Zone, which hosts the US embassy and some diplomatic headquarters, is now under a state of emergency.
At the same time, another explosion was reported from the Sadr City area in the Iraqi capital, and the security situation in the city remains critical.
Local sources report that American drones continue to fly over Baghdad and say that a car in the town of Al-Baladiyat was also targeted by a drone attack.
