Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, referring to some proposals made in the Iran-US nuclear talks regarding the withdrawal of excess enriched uranium from Iran if an agreement is reached, emphasized: “As we have previously announced, Russia is ready to accept excess enriched uranium from Iran.”
Peskov continued, regarding the recent talks between Iran and the United States, saying: “We refrain from prejudging the outcome of the talks between the United States and Iran on the nuclear program.”
These statements come as the second round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States is underway in Geneva, and discussions continue about managing Iran’s enriched uranium reserves and lifting sanctions.
Russia had previously announced its readiness to play a role in the process of managing Iran’s excess uranium reserves.
