Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate to Russia: Afghanistan is ready to resume active cooperation with the SCO
Gul Hassan Hassan, the ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to Moscow, told the Russian news agency TASS that Afghanistan, as an observer member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), is fully prepared to resume cooperation with the organization.
He added that he hopes that Afghan representatives will actively participate in future meetings of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
According to Ambassador Hassan, after the efforts of Russia and China, most of the member states have come to the conclusion that it is possible and practical to resume Afghanistan’s active participation in SCO activities.
These statements come at a time when the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as one of the most important regional structures, is playing an increasing role in the security, economic, and political issues of Central Asia and beyond, and Afghanistan’s presence can help strengthen regional cooperation.
