US President Donald Trump received the first FIFA Peace Medal from Gianni Infantino, President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), at the 2026 World Cup draw ceremony held at the Kennedy Center in the city.
This new FIFA award, designed to recognize exceptional actions towards world peace and unity, was presented to Trump as the first winner.
After receiving the gold medal and trophy, Trump smiled and hung it around his neck, saying, “This is truly one of the greatest honors of my life; beyond the awards… We saved millions and millions of lives.”
In his speech, the US President thanked Mexico and Canada, the other co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup, for their cooperation in holding the event, describing it as “an unprecedented event in the world.”
Infantino praised Trump at the ceremony, saying: “You deserve this award and you can always count on the support of the football community.”
