NATO Secretary General: Nuclear war has no winners and should never happen

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in response to Russia’s nuclear rhetoric, emphasized that there are no winners in a nuclear war and that Putin should know that he should never enter such a war.

Referring to the success of NATO’s annual nuclear exercise earlier this month, Rutte said that the exercise gave him “full confidence in the credibility of NATO’s nuclear deterrent in the face of Russian threats.”

The NATO Secretary General added: “When Russia uses reckless and dangerous nuclear rhetoric, the people of Europe should know that there is no need to fear or panic because NATO has a strong nuclear deterrent.”

These statements come as Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly warned the West of nuclear consequences since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Putin announced last month that Moscow could use nuclear weapons if attacked with conventional missiles and would consider any attack with the support of a nuclear power a joint attack.
