The first minister created with artificial intelligence joins the Albanian cabinet
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Thursday September 11 that he has appointed a digital character created with artificial intelligence as a member of his cabinet for the first time in the world.
This intelligent assistant, named “Diella,” which means “sun” in Albanian, will be responsible for overseeing government tenders and fighting corruption, and will not be physically present at cabinet meetings.
Dila previously worked as a virtual assistant on the Albanian government services websites (e-Albania), helping citizens access digital services, issuing around 36,600 electronic documents and providing nearly 1,000 services.
Developed in collaboration with Microsoft and depicted as a woman in traditional Albanian dress, the AI uses advanced AI models to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Rama emphasized that decision-making on public tenders will gradually be removed from ministries and handed over to the Ministry of Finance.
