Pakistani media reported that American and Pakistani officials met in Islamabad for talks called the US-Pakistan Counter-Terrorism Dialogue and pledged that the two countries would jointly fight against any terrorist activities.
The talks came a day after the United States designated the Baloch separatist group as a terrorist organization, a move welcomed by Pakistan’s foreign ministry.
In addition to the issue of Baloch separatist groups, the talks also discussed the threats posed by ISIS and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The US Embassy in Islamabad also issued a statement stating that the United States is firmly committed to fighting terrorism and supports cooperation with Pakistan in this regard.
These talks are being held at a time when the region continues to face security challenges stemming from the activities of terrorist groups, and bilateral cooperation is of particular importance for establishing stability and security.
