Rahim al-Hosseini succeeded Karim Aga Khan as the 4th and 50th Imam of the Ismailis

53-year-old Prince Rahim Al-Husseini Aga Khan V was announced as the 50th hereditary Imam of the Ismailis based on his father’s will after the death of his father Maulana Shah Karim Al-Husseini Aga Khan IV.

This succession was announced today, Wednesday, 6th of February, in the city of Lisbon, Portugal, in the presence of the Imam’s family and senior Ismaili leaders.

Karim Aga Khan, the religious leader of the Ismailis and the 49th Imam of the Ismailis of the world, died at the age of 88.
