NASA Image of the Day :The mysterious galaxy 4753 NGC
Do you know the name of the galaxy you see in NASA’s image of the day? This galaxy is a twisted disk galaxy called 4753 NGC.
The dark, dusty and mysterious bands seen in NGC 4753 are a sign of its complex history.
No one knows what happened to this galaxy. In 1992, a team of astronomers led by Tom Steeman-Cameron, a senior research scientist at Indiana University, published a comprehensive study of NGC 4753.
The scientists explained that the normal disc galaxy probably has disintegrated the dusty galaxy that was the moon with its own gravity; This process caused the remnants that were absorbed from the smaller galaxy to twist the main plane of the larger galaxy due to the progradational motion.
