Ryanavosti news agency quoted Kyrgyz government sources and wrote that the president of Kyrgyzstan, Sedir Jabarov, dismissed the country’s prime minister, Agil Bek Japarov.
No details have been provided about the reason for the removal of the prime minister and who will replace him.
Kyrgyzstan, which is a mountainous country in Central Asia and declared independence after the collapse of the former Soviet Union, has been struggling with political and social instability since 1991.
According to the United Nations, the country’s economy is highly dependent on remittances from migrant workers who have jobs in Russia, so that one-fifth of the country’s GDP is made up of these remittances.
