The cost of security measures in Islamabad has doubled and is likely to exceed one billion Pakistani rupees, Pakistani media quoted security sources as saying.
According to the report, the police have prepared 1,550 containers to provide security for the gatherings, with a daily rental fee of 46.5 million Pakistani rupees.
Islamabad police have also called for the deployment of 16,000 police from Punjab and 2,000 from Sindh to ensure security.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was scheduled to begin its rallies in Islamabad on September 27, but has delayed the rallies by a week.
