French President Emmanuel Macron, in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly, said that restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is one of France’s top priorities.
Macron said a multinational and independent coalition has been formed to ensure freedom of navigation in the strait, emphasizing that safe passage for ships and ensuring energy security are in the interests of all countries.
“The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is our top priority,” he added. France has previously supported the creation of a multinational, defense mission to protect commercial shipping and help restore freedom of navigation in the route.
