The CNN News Network has reported that a false intelligence report prepared with the help of artificial intelligence during the US war against Iran brought the country’s military to the brink of carrying out an operation against a Chinese ship in the Middle East.
According to the report, a document distributed to US military departments this spring claimed that a Chinese ship was transporting parts related to a nuclear weapons program. Four sources familiar with the matter said that the US military was prepared to intercept the ship, with forces on board and military aircraft on standby.
However, shortly before the operation was carried out, American officials discovered upon further investigation that a Special Operations Command analyst had prepared the report with the help of artificial intelligence and that a chatbot had mistakenly identified the ship’s cargo.
