United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the US-Iran war has caused serious disruption to the export of fertilizer raw materials from the Persian Gulf countries and has thrown global markets into turmoil.
Guterres added: “As the agricultural season approaches around the world, if chemical fertilizers are not supplied, we may soon face the risk of famine.”
This warning comes as the ongoing conflicts in the region pose a serious threat to the global food supply chain.
