Akhundzadeh affirms fair distribution of water and diplomacy at Water Week meeting in Tashkent
The Afghan Ministry of Energy and Water says that the Ministry’s Deputy Minister of Water participated in the Water Week Ministerial Forum in Uzbekistan and emphasized the fair distribution of water, strengthening water diplomacy, and expanding regional cooperation in water resources management.
The Afghan Ministry of Energy and Water wrote on its page X on Thursday that Mujibur Rahman Omar Akhundzada, the deputy minister of water of the ministry, participated in an important ministerial forum titled “Water Week” held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and spoke on behalf of Afghanistan.
According to the source, in his speech, Akhundzada emphasized the importance of fair distribution of water between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, strengthening water diplomacy, using new technologies in water management, and the need for joint cooperation to combat the consequences of climate change.
He also spoke about preventing the destruction of the Amu Darya coast and said that the Islamic Emirate is committed to the rights of neighboring countries in the field of water management.
The Ministry of Energy and Water added that Afghanistan’s participation in this meeting is considered an important step towards strengthening the country’s presence in regional and international water sector discussions; an action that could pave the way for a new chapter of joint cooperation between Afghanistan and regional countries
