UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan to be held next Monday
The United Nations Security Council announced that it will hold a meeting on Afghanistan next Monday, March 10, 2026, in which some regional countries will also be present.
Georgette Gagnon, Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), will present a comprehensive report on UNAMA’s activities and the political, economic and human rights situation in Afghanistan, based on the report of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The United Nations also announced that Security Council members have begun discussions on a draft resolution proposed by China to extend the UNAMA mission.
