Bangladesh interested in buying Afghan cotton

Shafiullah Azam, head of economic relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced on his page X that the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association has expressed its serious interest in purchasing Afghan cotton.

According to him, member companies of this association exported about $40 billion last year, which indicates the high capacity of the Bangladeshi clothing market.

Azam added that in addition to the issue of purchasing Afghan cotton, discussions and negotiations have also been held with this association about joint investment mechanisms in the textile and fabric production sector.

It is said that a delegation led by Ahmadullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, has traveled to Bangladesh to visit the 30th International Exhibition of Related Industries in Dakar, the capital of Bangladesh.

These developments could pave the way for expanding bilateral trade relations, increasing the country’s agricultural exports, and attracting investment in the textile industry.
