Air Force One carrying Trump makes emergency return to Washington due to electrical problem

Air Force One carrying US President Donald Trump returned to Andrews Air Force Base near Washington about an hour after taking off for Switzerland due to a technical problem.

White House spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt said the flight crew made the decision to return the plane to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland as a precaution after detecting a minor electrical problem, a decision made shortly after takeoff and en route to Davos, Switzerland.

According to Reuters, citing the White House, Trump and his entourage are scheduled to continue their trip on an alternative plane, and their attendance at the World Economic Forum in Davos will remain as scheduled.

There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities in the incident, and officials have stressed that the technical problem was minor and the crew’s action was purely precautionary.
