Trump: Killings and executions in Iran have stopped

شورای امنیت سازمان ملل امروز نشستی اضطراری درباره ایران برگزار می‌کند

US President Donald Trump announced that, based on reports received from reliable sources, the killing of rioters in Iran has stopped and there are no plans to carry out death sentences.

Trump stated in an interview with reporters: “We have been told that the killing in Iran has stopped and is stopping. There are no plans for executions or executions. I heard this from a reliable source and I hope it is true.”

He added that the United States would investigate the accuracy of these reports and monitor the situation, but did not rule out military action, stressing that “we will see how the process progresses.”

These statements came after Trump’s previous threats of severe action if the execution of protesters continued, and appear to indicate a temporary easing of tensions. Iranian sources had previously stated that the execution of protesters was not on the agenda.

In a related development, diplomatic sources reported to Al Jazeera that the United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on developments in Iran today, Thursday, January 15, at the request of Washington, and this meeting will be convened to review the situation of the protests, repression, and their possible consequences.

At the same time, the New York Times, citing an American official, wrote that American long-range bombers, including the B-52, which were on standby for possible secondary attacks, have now been suspended, and this action was taken after Trump’s statements and could be a sign of a reduction in the military alert level.
