China and Pakistan emphasize continuation of trilateral dialogue with Afghanistan

On Monday (January 5)the Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued a joint statement between China and Pakistan announcing that Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, had visited China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

The statement said that the two sides expressed their readiness to continue to utilize the trilateral dialogue between the foreign ministers of China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, as well as the China-Bangladesh-Pakistan cooperation mechanism, in order to achieve new results.

The two sides also agreed to maintain close communication and coordination on the issue of Afghanistan and to cooperate with the international community to encourage the Afghan government to establish a comprehensive political framework, focus on economic development, pursue a good-neighborly policy, and play a constructive role. The goal of this cooperation is to help Afghanistan achieve sustainable development and integration into the international community.
