Pakistan: Talking about regime change in Afghanistan is not right

Tahir Andarabi, spokesman for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, said in a press conference that Islamabad respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan and has no intention of interfering in the country’s internal affairs or talking about regime change.

He added that the choice of government is up to the Afghan people and Pakistan is ready to cooperate with the current government in Kabul.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said Islamabad was still waiting for a written commitment from the Islamic Emirate not to use Afghan territory against Pakistan’s security and the closure of border ports was related to this issue.

According to Andrabi, 306 Pakistani citizens, including 15 students, have returned to their country by air since the ports were closed.

Pakistani officials have consistently claimed that militant attacks in Pakistan are organized from Afghan soil.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has denied the allegations, blaming the root of insecurity inside Pakistan and insisting it is not responsible.
