South African police announced on Sunday that at least 10 people were killed and 10 others injured in a shooting in a township on the outskirts of Johannesburg, the country’s largest city and economic center.

Some of the victims were shot randomly on the streets by unknown gunmen, Xinhua news agency reported, citing local media.

In their statement, police did not release further details about the motive for the shooting, the identities of the attackers, or the exact circumstances of the incident.
