Three Afghan migrants and a shepherd have died in the Kohsan district of Herat province, local officials said.
Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesman for the Herat Governor’s Office, said that some statistics and images published on social media about this event are not reliable and that further investigations are underway to clarify the details.
He added that investigations are continuing to determine whether people on the other side of the border have also lost their lives.
This incident occurred at a time when illegal immigration to Iran during the winter season is associated with serious risks due to harsh weather conditions.
