Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, emphasized in a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Security Council that the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons is a completely internal Lebanese matter and that any negotiations under the pressure of fire and conflict are not only not possible, but will also be fruitless.
According to Lebanese media reports, Berri added in the meeting, which was held on Saturday, that Lebanon has been fully committed to all international obligations and demands since the beginning of the implementation of the ceasefire decision, while the Zionist regime continues its unilateral war against the Lebanese people by continuing its incessant bombings, military aggressions, and arrests of Lebanese citizens.
Criticizing Israel’s repeated ceasefire violations, Berri called for greater pressure from the international community on Tel Aviv to immediately cease hostile actions and respect Lebanon’s sovereignty.
These statements come as border tensions between Lebanon and Israel have been ongoing for months, and the recent fragile ceasefire has been repeatedly violated by Tel Aviv.
