First direct dialogue between Lebanon and Israel after decades of continued occupation

The Agence France-Presse reported on Wednesday evening 3th of December that for the first time in decades, a direct meeting and dialogue was held between official representatives of Lebanon and the Israeli regime.

According to the report, Simon Karam, the former Lebanese ambassador to the United States, representing Beirut, and a senior official from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office participated in the meeting on the direct orders of Benjamin Netanyahu.

This meeting is taking place while Israeli forces are still occupying parts of Lebanese territory, including the Shebaa Farms and the Kafr Shuba Hills, and have recently begun constructing a separation wall in the border areas of southern Lebanon.

So far, no official details of the content of the talks or the exact location have been announced.

Some Lebanese sources have described the meeting as “confidential” and within the framework of international mediation.
