Bijing gives Tokyo a stern warning, crossing Taiwan’s red line will have a painful price
China’s Ministry of Defense warned Japan in an unprecedented tone on Thursday, November 27, 2025, that if Tokyo crosses “even half a step” of the red line on the Taiwan issue, it will inevitably pay a very painful price.
“The Chinese People’s Liberation Army has powerful capabilities and tools to crush any aggressor; if the Japanese side dares to make trouble for itself, it will definitely pay a heavy price,” said Jiang Bin, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, at a press conference.
The warning was made in direct response to comments by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who recently said Tokyo could intervene militarily if China attacked Taiwan.
