World Bank begins paying $45 million in arrears from previous projects
The Ministry of Finance announced that the World Bank has begun paying nearly $45 million in remaining payments to contracting companies for projects whose documents were completed and in progress before the Islamic Emirate returned.
This amount is paid in four installments.
The first phase of $9.3 million will be provided directly from
The World Bank’s approach to foreign companies
The second phase is underway, with $16.8 million being provided to companies through the Ministry of Finance.
The third and fourth stages of paying the remaining amount in the coming weeks and months.
The Ministry of Finance also confirmed that the World Bank office in Kabul has officially reopened and its activities have resumed.
This move comes after months of negotiations between the Islamic Emirate and the World Bank, and is considered the first direct payment by this international institution to Afghan projects after 2021.
