Fidan: Türkiye ready to send troops to Gaza after Security Council resolution passed

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that Türkiye is ready to send troops to Gaza, subject to the approval of a draft UN Security Council resolution on the region.

These statements were made while Hebrew sources reported the possibility of the US President’s plan for Gaza failing and predicted that the Israeli army would present a plan to disarm Hamas at the same time as the war resumed.

Fidan emphasized in his recent press conference: “Countries will decide to dispatch troops based on the content of the Security Council resolution.”

He added that Hamas is ready to hand over the administration of Gaza to Palestinian committees, and that the people who will administer Gaza have also been identified.

This Hamas position was confirmed in recent meetings with Turkish officials in Istanbul and is part of efforts to implement a fragile ceasefire in Gaza.

Turkey is reportedly preparing a military contingent of at least 2,000 personnel from various branches of its military for the Gaza peacekeeping mission, but Israel strongly opposes the presence of Turkish forces, calling it “unacceptable.”

The draft documents of the Security Council resolution indicate that this force will be tasked with monitoring the ceasefire, restoring it and, if necessary, disarming Hamas by force, a clause that has been criticized by Ankara.

Meanwhile, Israeli sources have warned that if Trump’s plan fails, Netanyahu is committed to disarming Hamas and demilitarizing Gaza, and the Israeli army will do more in this regard.
