Three children killed in cluster mine explosion in Badghis
Three children were killed when a cluster mine exploded in the village of Qurotoi in Bala Murghab district of Badghis province on Saturday evening, security officials said.
“A mine left over from previous clashes in the village of Qarotoy exploded when three children were walking towards their homes, killing all three children,” said Sediqullah Sediqqi, spokesman for the Badghis police headquarters.
This incident occurred just two days after two other children were killed in a cluster bomb explosion in the village of Panirak in the same district.
Security officials emphasized that they are working to prevent similar incidents, but mines and explosives left over from past wars continue to threaten the lives of residents, especially children, in various areas of Badghis
