Opening of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Hospital with advanced equipment

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Regional Hospital in Balkh Province was inaugurated with modern equipment by the provincial Public Health Department.

The department was built and put into operation by the Ministry of Public Health and with the financial support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) at a cost of US$1.6 million.

With the launch of this department, significant facilities will be provided for the treatment of urgent and serious patients, and the quality of health services will be significantly improved.

The ICU department is equipped with advanced and modern medical equipment and has 15 separate rooms, each of which contains an independent bed for the patient and is equipped with modern medical monitoring devices.

This project is an important step in strengthening the health system in Balkh province and is expected to play an effective role in saving patients’ lives.

Officials from the Balkh Public Health Department have appreciated UNDP’s support and emphasized that efforts to improve health services will continue.
