Al Jazeera news network reported that Turkish courts have issued arrest warrants for 37 senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on charges of war crimes and genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
According to the report, the defendants include the sons of Defense Minister Ael Katz, Interior Minister Itamar Ben-Governor, and Herzi Halevi, deputy chief of staff of the Israeli army.
This Turkish judicial decision follows numerous complaints from human rights organizations and international lawyers against the Israeli regime’s actions in Gaza, and is part of Ankara’s efforts to prosecute war crimes at the international level.
The Turkish government had previously asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute Netanyahu and Israeli officials on similar charges.
Israel has rejected these orders, calling them “anti-Semitic.”
This Turkish action could escalate tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv and have implications for regional diplomatic relations.
