Grossi calls for continued diplomatic talks with Iran
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, emphasized the need for dialogue with Tehran and called for continued diplomatic negotiations to prevent new confrontations.
On Sunday in an interview with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung newspaper, Grossi admitted that the organization’s inspectors believe that Iran has not hidden a significant amount of highly enriched uranium in multiple locations, although he claimed that a small amount of this material may have been transferred to other locations.
He assessed that Iran’s nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Fordow, and Natanz were severely damaged during the Israeli and American airstrikes in June.
The organization’s director general emphasized that inspectors’ access to Iranian facilities will only be possible when Tehran recognizes it as in line with its national interests.
Without referring to Iran’s repeated denial of nuclear weapons, Grossi claimed: “The amount of uranium available in Iran, if further enriched, would be sufficient to produce several nuclear weapons.”
