China firmly rejects Trump’s call to stop buying oil from Russia
The Chinese Embassy in Washington issued a statement in response to US President Donald Trump’s words calling on Beijing to stop buying oil from Russia.
The Chinese embassy emphasized: “The imposition of unilateral sanctions and any other pressure by the United States will have no impact on the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Russia.”
This assertive stance by Beijing has intensified trade and geopolitical tensions between Washington and Beijing.
Trump has previously pressured Russia over the Ukraine war and called on allies to cut economic ties with Moscow.
China, however, insists on maintaining its strategic relations with Russia.
Analysts warn that the dispute could affect the global oil market.
