Intense clashes on the Spin Boldak and Chaman border, heavy casualties for Pakistani forces and displacement of civilians
Local sources in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province reported that the border gate between Afghanistan and Pakistan in Chaman witnessed heavy clashes between security forces of the two countries.
These clashes, which began early last week, involve the use of light and heavy weapons, and Pakistani rocket fire has displaced a number of civilians.
According to eyewitnesses, the Islamic Emirate forces have launched counter-attacks along the hypothetical Durand Line in response to Pakistan’s recent airstrikes on Kabul and Paktika.
The clashes, described as one of the most intense exchanges of fire in recent years, have led to the complete closure of the Torkham and Chaman borders, leaving thousands of Afghan refugees stranded.
Previously, the Saudi Arabian government and the United Nations had called for restraint and dialogue to prevent an escalation of tensions.
Meanwhile, local authorities have asked citizens to avoid approaching the supposed Durand Line.
