The International Committee to Break the Siege of Gaza announced that nine ships carrying humanitarian aid, along with 150 human rights activists from more than 44 countries, have reached 270 kilometers from the Gaza coast and are approaching the restricted maritime zone.
The flotilla, which is part of the Thousand Medals to Gaza initiative, aims to break the two-year blockade of Gaza and create a maritime corridor to deliver aid to the besieged people.
According to Al Jazeera and Reuters, the ships, which departed from ports in Italy, Türkiye, Tunisia and Spain, are carrying items such as food, medical equipment, infant formula and rice.
Organizers, including the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), have stressed that the mission is symbolic but vital, and has been challenged by Israeli warnings.
In recent days, Israeli drones have been monitoring the fleet and conducting threatening maneuvers.
