Afghanistan national futsal team advances to the 2026 AFC Asian Cup for the second time

The Afghanistan national futsal team qualified for the AFC Asian Cup for the second time in its history.

The team defeated the host Myanmar by a decisive score of 8-0 in their second match of the 2026 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

The match was held on Wednesday,  24 September on Yangon, Myanmar, and victory there secured the country’s early advancement to the main tournament.

In the first match of the competition, Afghanistan defeated Maldives by a score of 10-1.

The qualifying Group H consisted of three teams, Afghanistan, Myanmar and Maldives, and with these results, Afghanistan climbed to the top of the group.

This achievement, following a successful participation in the 2024 FIFA World Cup, demonstrates the significant progress of the country’s futsal on the Asian continent.
