The Times of India has crossed a red line by participating in joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises
The British newspaper The Times reported that India has crossed a red line by sending military forces to the joint Russia-Belarusian APAD-2025 exercises, which simulate a conflict scenario with neighboring NATO countries.
The exercise, which took place from September 12 to 16, 2025 in Belarus and Russia’s border regions, involved about 30,000 Russian and Belarusian soldiers and included exercises such as ballistic missile launches and simulated air strikes.
According to The Times, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dispatched 65 elite Kumaon Brigade troops to participate in the exercise.
New Delhi’s stated goal is to strengthen defense cooperation and mutual trust with Russia, but the move comes amid worsening relations between India and Washington over trade and strategic issues, raising concerns about the future of Indo-US security cooperation.
