World leaders pose for a photo in Beijing ahead of the 80th anniversary parade of China’s victory over Japan
On the eve of a military parade in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the end of World War II on Wednesday, September 3 (2025), leaders of several countries gathered to take commemorative photos.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un posed for a commemorative photo as they walked towards the parade ground, which was shown on giant screens in Beijing, according to the Guardian.
This image, which symbolized the unity of these leaders, provoked different reactions, including criticism from US President Donald Trump, who wrote on the social network Truth Social: “Please give my warm regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un while you are plotting against the United States.”
The ceremony was attended by 26 leaders and senior officials from countries such as Iran, Myanmar, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Cambodia, and Indonesia.
