Belgium recognizes Palestine at UN General Assembly, imposes sanctions on Israel

Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Provo announced that the country will officially recognize the State of Palestine at the next UN General Assembly session in September 2025.

He also stressed that Belgium will impose severe sanctions against the Israeli government for violating international law.

According to Provo, this decision is in line with supporting the two-state solution and increasing diplomatic pressure on the Israeli regime to end its illegal actions in the occupied territories.

This move by Belgium, following the decision of European countries such as Spain, Ireland, and Norway to recognize Palestine, could lead to further isolation of the Zionist regime on the international stage
