Massive fire breaks out at Bayraktar drone factory in Kiev after Russian missile strike

The Bayer Aktar drone manufacturing plant, owned by the Turkish company Baykar, in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, was targeted by two Russian Iskander-M ballistic missiles last night, and caught fire.

The factory, which was under construction and designed to produce TB2 and AKINCI drones, has suffered significant damage.

Baykar has been establishing this facility in Ukraine since 2019 and expanded local production of these drones with the Turkish-Ukrainian aerospace cooperation agreement in February 2022.

Ukrainian officials have reported that about 600 workers were safely evacuated during the attack, but no further details were provided on the extent of damage or possible casualties.

Some sources on the X social network have claimed that the attack has dealt a major blow to Ukraine’s drone production capacity, although this information has not yet been officially confirmed.
