The Zionist newspaper Haaretz reported in an analysis by Chaim Levinson that US President Donald Trump’s support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has become the main obstacle to reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
According to this report, there was hope in the Qatar negotiations that if Hamas agreed to the framework proposed by US special envoy Steve Whittaker and Trump asked Netanyahu to sign the agreement.
However, despite Hamas’s agreement with this proposal, American sources have announced that the US president has no intention of intervening in this matter and has left the decision-making to the Israeli regime.
Haaretz also noted that Trump has publicly supported Netanyahu’s position that only the “destruction of Hamas” can lead to the release of the hostages.
This support allows Netanyahu to continue what Haaretz described as the “eternal war” with “outright distortions and lies.”
