The United Nations Integrated Food Security Classification (IPC) officially declared a famine in Gaza City on Friday (August 22).
This is the first time that Gaza has been officially listed as a famine-stricken region.
According to the Telegraph, Gaza City, with a population of about 500,000 people, is now facing an unprecedented food security crisis.
According to the IPC, after 22 months of non-stop conflict, more than half a million people in this region face catastrophic conditions, including severe hunger, abject poverty, and the threat of death.
Since its establishment in 2004, the organization has only declared famine four times in different parts of the world, which reflects the severity and seriousness of the current crisis in Gaza.
