UN declares famine in Gaza City for the first time

The United Nations Integrated Food Security Classification (IPC) officially declared a famine in Gaza City on Friday (August 22).

This is the first time that Gaza has been officially listed as a famine-stricken region.

According to the Telegraph, Gaza City, with a population of about 500,000 people, is now facing an unprecedented food security crisis.

According to the IPC, after 22 months of non-stop conflict, more than half a million people in this region face catastrophic conditions, including severe hunger, abject poverty, and the threat of death.
