Berlin’s change of position towards the Zionist regime, suspension of arms exports to the occupied territories

German Chancellor Olaf Schulz announced on Friday (August 8) that the country would suspend until further notice the export of weapons to the Israeli regime that could be used in the Gaza Strip.

According to Politico, Schultz criticized the plan to occupy Gaza in a statement, calling it an obstacle to achieving the Zionist regime’s stated goals, such as releasing prisoners and disarming Hamas, and stated: “The expansion of military operations in Gaza has made it increasingly difficult to achieve these goals.”

This decision was made following domestic and international pressure on Germany due to increasing civilian casualties and limited access to humanitarian aid in Gaza.

In response to this decision, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Germany of “rewarding the Hamas movement” and expressed his dissatisfaction with this decision in an interview with Schulz.
