ISIS plot against Arbaeen pilgrims in Karbala foiled

Nassif Jassim Khatabi, the governor of Karbala, announced the thwarting of a dangerous ISIS terrorist plot to attack Arbaeen pilgrims.

In this operation, which was carried out under the close observation of the “Shaheen” intelligence group and the supervision of the Karbala Investigation Court, 22 terrorists were arrested.

These individuals intended to create widespread insecurity by detonating explosives on pilgrim routes, attacking security forces and Husseini processions, and poisoning pilgrims at gathering places.

According to the governor of Karbala, one of the group’s goals was to attack a Hussainiyah on the Karbala-Najaf route, which was thwarted with the cooperation of judicial and security authorities.

The defendants admitted in court to their affiliation with ISIS and connections with foreign parties, including the Zionist regime.

This operation demonstrates the convergence of interests between ISIS and the Zionist regime to destabilize Iraq and harm the Arbaeen celebrations.

The Karbala Police Chief announced that security measures have been tightened to protect pilgrims, and more than 14,000 Iraqi convoys and 205 foreign convoys are ready to serve pilgrims.
